Lea Furniture: A Review of Kid’s Furniture by Lea Industries

Custom Search

Lea Furniture, often known as Lea Industries, is a division of the La-Z-Boy Corporation that focuses solely on children’s furniture. The product line is wildly popular, but how does it measure up?

Is Lea Furniture durable? Is it affordable? Do kids actually like it? For the answers to these questions and a full review of Lea industries, keep reading.

Lea Furniture Style

Lea Industries furniture is kid’s furniture, but the style is all about appealing to adults. If you want wood furniture that will blend in with your existing décor, this is the furniture for you. If you want bright colors and wild avant-garde designs, you might be better off looking at Ikea or an independent children’s furniture designer.

Most of Lea Furniture’s kids’ collections are offered in heirloom-finishes and deep oak stain. So, while the style is often great for nurseries or teen rooms, it’s not always fun for your rambunctious 8-year-old.

Furniture Prices

In the world of furniture, Lea Industries typically falls right in the middle for price. Unfortunately, that middle-of-the-road assessment doesn’t apply for the world of children’s furniture.

Lea Furniture pieces typically range from between, say, $300 for a nightstand to about $1200 for a teen’s queen-size bed. Yes, the pieces are sturdy and well-made, but if you’re looking for something that’s just going to take you through a few years, you may want to look for something cheaper, but less durable.

Durability of Furniture

Lea Industries makes high-quality furniture that’s designed to last for years. This is great if you’re looking for a bed or dresser that’s going to take your child from ages 5 to 18 and then be handed down to a younger cousin.  However, that durability comes with the expected higher price tag.

When it comes to durability, Lea Furniture does have one downfall – it’s made of beautiful wood. And while wood can often stand the test of time, it often can’t stand up to youngsters.

To keep your Lea pieces looking great for years, you’re either going to have to teach your kids about coasters or outfit each piece of furniture with a protective cover. On top of this, smudges and spills aren’t always as easy to clean.

Customer Service

Because Lea Industries furniture is sold through dealers, you’ll often find your customer service experience will depend on where you bought the furniture.

However, most of the pieces come with a warranty and Lea does sell replacement parts for all its lines. However, replacement parts are only carried for one year after a line is discontinued.

Again, depending on where you buy your Lea Furniture, you may or may not have perks like assembly or an extended warranty included with your purchase.
